You are Welcome
The Bibles says: “…. practise hospitality” (Romans 12:13)
so we want to give hospitality and welcome a high priority in the church. Our front door is wide open to anyone who wants to come. We have the privilege and the joy of welcoming and journeying with many, many people week by week.
We want our welcome and hospitality, as the body of Christ, to reflect the ministry of Jesus –
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
So our aim is that everyone:
Receives a genuine welcome
Our hope is that City Life is a church where everyone will be welcomed, loved and honoured, and feels able to belong.
Makes meaningful connections
We want everyone who connects with City Life Church to have the opportunity to build relationships with people at a deeper level, and to find people within the church who will love them for who they are. There will be organised activities to facilitate and encourage these connections (larger gatherings and small groups etc). Alongside these, our hope is that friendships will grow naturally and will be encouraged through people getting together beyond the organised activities of the church.
Has the opportunity to journey with Jesus
We will try to give everyone who connects with City Life Church the opportunity and space to grow in their understanding and experience of Jesus and what it means to follow him. We recognise that this will look different for each individual depending on where they find themselves on their journey of faith.
It is our genuine hope that everyone puts their trust in Christ and opens up their lives to the power and influence of God’s Holy Spirit. We want everyone to experience His amazing work within them and through them – we constantly encourage, and give space and time, for this. Importantly, if someone does not wish to go on this journey, nothing changes … they are still welcome.
Explores and exercises their God-given gifts
We believe that every follower of Jesus has a God-given call upon their lives to work with God to see His Kingdom come. So, we seek to encourage everyone to identify and use their God-given gifts in every area of their lives, and also within the church. We recognise that there will inevitably be times when people have differing views than what the broadly held view within the church is (stated or otherwise). On these occasions we do not see this as a barrier to belonging, but this may influence the kind of role fulfilled within the church.
